Michael Ropitzky is a newly emerging artist who received his B.F.A. in painting and drawing from SUNY Purchase and has been continuing his practice since 2015. He currently lives in Wappingers Falls, New York, where he works from his home studio.

As an artist, Michael started out as a painter when leaving college, focusing heavily on postmodern minimalism with an emphasis on color theory. Shapes and color relationships have always been of heavy influence in his work, exploring how different shapes, hues, and tones speak to each other both spatially and visually. Technological advancements play a heavy role in the visual language of the work, often drawing from the visual identity of dystopian media and idea of utilitarian devices.

In early 2025 he began experimenting with three-dimensional space working with wood and plastic to create wall sculptures. 3D printing has since became a large part of the artistic process, allowing the creation of precise and complex geometry to create a much more engaging physical contrast between forms.

The works are a conversation between the boundary of art and dystopian technologies, exploring relationships of shapes and colors. Utilitarian objects become a spectacle of different angles, depths, and visual functionalities.
